Digital Quality Models
Declarative statements about the quality and benefits of goods no longer appeal to consumers. The currently shaping trend clearly reflects the demand for objective and verified information about both, the authenticity and the quality of products. For many countries, a person with a smartphone studying the product at the counter has long become a common phenomenon. In the era of globalisation, consumers have no chance to see a producer of the goods they are buying. Nevertheless, they want to be confident in the product quality and, therefore, try to find any opportunity to learn more about the product. In this context, “manipulative” marketing stops working and availability of objective information about the origin and quality of goods becomes of crucial importance. In our projects, we “drop down” the concept of “quality” to specific quality assessment metrics.
In this case, the traceability system records critical supply chain events, objectively records deviations from the norm, if any, collects all the necessary information in special registers and presents it to the consumer in the form of integrated indicators. As a result, the consumer, having scanned the marking on the product using the Shping mobile app, will see either a “green tick”, or a “yellow warning”, or a “red sign”, each indicating the corresponding product status. These signs may disclose detailed information about raw materials used in production, indicators of compliance with production technology, certificates issued by the government and independent organisations, information on compliance with storage and transportation conditions, the customs status of goods and a number of other parameters constituting the “quality” concept.
In particular, the digital quality model for food products necessarily includes indicators from production control points in accordance with the concept of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point).
